When I retire I want to work at a DMV. My sole purpose in life will be to bring joy to others where there was suffering in the past. I waited 30 minutes just to talk to someone....and it never happened. They might have two staffers there. Not sure. One for the desk one for the tests. The overcrowded waiting room took pity on me and told me not to bother. All chairs full and kids sitting on the floor. Fayetteville offices are far more efficient. Save time, go there.
I was pretty nervous to go here because of the reviews. But I didn't have a terrible experience. I got here 11 AM on a Monday. The waiting room was fairly full. When I got there, I believe there were 2 employees. By the time I was called, there was only 1 employee running to show. I waited for about 45 minutes - 1 hour before they called my number. The employee was straight-forward and efficient. She wasn't going out of her way to be overly kind, but hey, I'm not there to make a new friend. The exchange with the employee total lasted about 5-10 minutes and then I was done!
There's a blonde-haired snake who works at the Lillington and Fayetteville locations. I informed her that I received an infraction after being pulled over for driving with a permit but without an experienced driver and was there to take my driver's test (taking the appropriate steps to be an independent driver), she was rude and unprofessional, lied and told me that my license verification was invalid, and trying to get another infraction placed on my record for not having anyone accompany me to the DMV, telling me that 'Youre going to get another one!" in a shrewd tone, and proceeded to fail me purposely because she can. Won't be taking my driver's test with this woman again and would advise you to find another location where she isn't conducting the road test because if she doesn't like you, she will fail you.
Definitely DO NOT go to this DMV office, you got a better chance somewhere else. There is only one worker there to take care of everyone. That means when someone needs a road test, there is NOBODY there for 20+ minutes, and the DMV worker goes to lunch for an hour and a half. The waiting room fills up at 8 am and if you're not there right away when it opens you may not get any service, so don't bother waiting around. Overall, don't torture yourself and if I could rate the place a negative 200 I would.
Terrible customer service. The examiner just had a nasty attitude and I was being polite the whole time. Never again will I visit this DMV office again. Wait time was over 2 hours and then she came out and said that the office will be closing from 11:30-1:00 so everyone who was waiting was going to have to go to another DMV office or come back when she reopened and pull out another ticket and continue to wait even longer. The office in Erwin/Dunn is a million times better and they have more than 1 examiner working.
My advice: Come prepared with every document you could possibly need. Also come prepared with things to do while you wait -- I read a book, played some games on my phone, and make some lists.
